Availability
I do not keep regular office hours. Sessions are scheduled by appointment only. I tend to be available most early evenings and weekends. Phone messages can be left on my voice mail 24 hours a day (425-891-3749). I will make every effort to return your call within one business day.
Video/Telehealth Sessions
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most sessions are currently being provided over secure video platforms. Video/telehealth sessions will likely remain an option beyond the pandemic. Before scheduling, we will determine which modality of sessions, in-person or telehealth, are most appropriate. All families who are seen in person agree to abide by the office COVID-19 policies.
Insurance
I do not accept any forms of insurance at this time. As an out-of-network provider, payment is to be made in full and at the time of service. An invoice will be provided so that it can be submitted by those interested in seeking reimbursement from their insurance company. I recommend all families to contact their insurance company to determine their reimbursement policies and procedures.
Cancellation/No-Show Policies
I understand that you may occasionally have difficulty keeping your scheduled appointment. Cancellations should be made at least 24 hours in advance, but I recognize that sometimes illnesses don’t present themselves until that day. Please contact me once it’s realized that therapy won’t be productive due to illness. No charge will occur if you cancel in advance. Similarly, if I need to cancel a session due to illness, I will inform you as soon as possible. However, complete no-shows will be charged at the full-rate.
Health Records
An electronic medical records system called Simple Practice is used. I strive to maintain the highest level of privacy, in accordance with the current legal and professional standards. Simple Practice is a third party and is subject to similar confidentiality standards compliant with the HIPAA regulations. I reserve the right to change our electronic medical system, if indicated.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is my topmost priority and is also protected by law. The content of all sessions will always be treated with respect and as confidential communication. I can only release information about our work with written permission. Please see below regarding possible exceptions. Please note that these exceptions are rare and it is my goal to always maintain strict confidentiality.
- If a client chooses to submit reimbursement claims to an insurance provider, insurance companies generally require some limited information about the client’s treatment.
- Requirement by law to report or take action: a) making provisions for you or your child’s safety if there is a threat of imminent harm to yourself, b) Taking protective actions (including notifying potential victims and/or police) if there is a threat of serious bodily harm to others, c) reporting potential child, elder or dependent abuse
- A court order is received for the client’s record.
Electronic Mail Policy
I do not recommend communications via unsecure email or text, especially pertaining to clinical information. For convenience to patients and families, I am willing to schedule appointments via email or text. Any clinical information, should happen over a secure phone line or in the scheduled appointment. By providing me with your email address on the patient information form, you are agreeing that email is an acceptable form of communication for you despite its limitations with respect to confidentiality.
